Frequently Asked Questions about Breathwork & Retreats in Byron Bay Hinterland
1. What is breathwork, and how can it help me?
Breathwork is a gentle yet powerful practice that uses slow, conscious breathing to calm the nervous system, release tension, and bring you back into balance. At Rise Temple in the Byron Bay Hinterland, our breathwork sessions support mindfulness, reduce stress, and create clarity in both mind and body.
2. Do I need any experience to join a session or retreat?
No experience is necessary. Whether it’s your first time trying breathwork and meditation or you’ve been practising for years, each session is guided step by step. Many guests describe the experience as grounding, safe, and deeply restorative.
3. Where are you located?
Rise Temple is set in Upper Burringbar in the Byron Bay Hinterland, around 30 minutes north of Byron Bay and 30 minutes south of Tweed Heads/Gold Coast. Our space is surrounded by nature, complete with a spring-fed dam and waterfall, making it an ideal sanctuary for relaxation and renewal.
4. What should I bring to a session?
Just comfortable clothing, a water bottle, and an open heart. Everything else — mats, cushions, blankets, and herbal tea — is provided. For retreats, we’ll send a full list of what’s included and recommended to bring.

Yes. We offer private family breathwork and mindfulness sessions designed to be inclusive for children as well as adults. These can be tailored to create a soulful, gentle, and fun experience that everyone can enjoy together.
6. Do you offer private couples sessions?
Yes, private couples breathwork and counselling retreats are one of our most popular offerings. These immersive experiences are designed to deepen connection, improve communication, and help couples rediscover love and presence together.
