A Mindful Retreat for Neurodivergent Children

Supporting emotional wellbeing, creativity, and connection through breath, nature, and play.

A gentle day of stillness, expression, and self-connection, held in nature.

The Listening Tree Retreat is a nurturing, sensory-friendly retreat day designed especially for neurodivergent children under 16, including those with autism, ADHD, and other unique ways of being in the world.

Held on the sacred grounds of Rise Temple in Upper Burringbar, this intimate offering creates a safe space for children to explore breath, mindfulness, and creativity at their own pace, free from pressure, and fully supported.

Every element of the day is lovingly designed to invite children into calm, grounding rhythms while reconnecting with their inner world through breath, nature, and gentle play.

WHAT THE DAY INCLUDES

THE MORNING

  • 10:30am – Breathwork, Meditation & Mindfulness
A 40-minute slow and nurturing breath session in The Calm Space studio. With soft light, soothing soundscapes, and spacious guidance, children are invited to settle into their bodies and breath. This session supports emotional regulation, nervous system balance, and creates a calm foundation for the day ahead.

  • 11:15am – Light outdoor play & sensory grounding
Children will have the opportunity to gently move and explore the land before lunch—barefoot walking, nature touch, and quiet freedom held with care.

THE AFTERNOON

  • 1:00pm-3pm – Nature Walk & Sculpture Making
With quiet mindfulness, children are guided through the gardens and land to collect fallen twigs, leaves, seed pods, and other natural treasures. Returning to the studio, they’ll create a mobile sculpture using wooden branches, hand-painted pinecones, and personal affirmations, either written by them or chosen from a set.

Each sculpture becomes a keepsake, a tangible reminder of the calm, joy, and creativity they experienced, a gentle anchor they can take home.

Optional Infrared Sauna (15 minutes per child)
For children who wish to participate, a calming 15-minute infrared sauna session will be scheduled during the creative workshop. Guided and supported by staff, this experience supports relaxation, circulation, and emotional balance.

*Camping or overnight options are available for participants attending The Listening Tree Retreat. When aligned with a participant’s goals and plan, this may be claimable under Short Term Accommodation (STA), including respite (NDIS Code: 01_058_0115_1_1), offering extended support in a nurturing, nature-rich setting.

WHY ‘THE LISTENING TREE’?

The Listening Tree is the strong, steady centre of a tree—quietly alive and full of purpose.

This retreat was created in honour of that centre within every child: a place of calm strength, beauty, and wholeness that can be felt when they’re free to just be.

The Listening Tree Retreat is more than a day of activities. It’s a heartfelt invitation for neurodivergent children to feel safe, seen, and supported—to come home to their breath, to nature, and to themselves.

  • “My journey with Amanda was truly something special, she made me feel so safe and comfortable. She helped to push me out of my comfort zone and the whole experience was incredibly empowering and healing. It’s unbelievable how much lighter and more balanced I felt after my journey with her, she is such a blessing x”

~ Zoe F, Robina, QLD Australia

  • “Breathwork with Amanda was calming and I felt that I needed to calm down a bit from my mental speed and pace. To release into the body and feel more meditative. It was like a meditation practice but guided... so more closely attuned to the sensations in the body, and slowing down the breath which is a huge stress release... for me anyway!”

~ Christian M, Kingscliff, NSW Australia

  • “I have been to a few different breathwork before but THIS ONE with Amanda Jane was above and beyond. I Have managed to get out of the thought mind very quickly and had an intense journey. Amanda's soothing voice and amazing guidance helped me dive deep and heal on the subconscious level. I Strongly recommend Amanda Jane and her breathwork facilitation.”

~ Mark O, Currumbin, QLD Australia

  • “I truly loved this experience! It helped me to understand where I am at in my peri-menopause journey. The information provided by Amanda (naturopath) and Stephanie (nutritionist) was so helpful. It really gave me a well rounded understanding of what I can do to minimise any symptoms. The lunch was fresh and delicious. Lastly, the breathwork and sound experience with Amanda Jane was out of this world. I was transported to many places. Using the noise cancelling headphones kept the whole experience very personal. Thank you so much x”

    ~Sarah, Pottsville, NSW Australia

  • “It was a great experience, confronting at times but was good for my body to release emotions and feelings it had been holding on to for far too long. I would highly recommend.”

~ Bec, Northern Rivers, NSW Australia

  • “I loved my experience of regenerative breathwork with Amanda Jane. I felt comfortable and supported throughout and really appreciated the content shared. The music was gorgeous and Amanda Jane's voice is lovely and soothing as she guided us in the practice. I haven't used wireless headphones with breathwork before - Wow! Having the music and Amanda Jane's voice so clear and close added another dimension to the practice and allowed me to really focus and connect deeply. I highly recommend Amanda Jane's regenerative Breathwork journey and look forward to doing another one soon!”

~ Michelle G, Kingscliff, NSW Australia

  • “My Breathwork session was excellent. Amanda provided me with a very good introduction, explanation, and preparation, making me feel completely safe, at ease, and well-guided throughout the entire session. Her approach is mindful and professional, leaving a lasting impression. I highly recommend anyone to experience a Breathwork session with Amanda, as it brings about amazing sensations that can lead to tangible and intangible positive changes on a mental and physical level. Whatever the outcome, I feel it's a transformative experience to be embraced. Thank you again Amanda”

~ Damien R, Byron Bay, NSW Australia

  • “Amanda’s space was welcoming on entry and I felt held, heard and nurtured by the experience every step of the way. I have immediately noticed this journey’s benefits with my feeling of been grounded and regulated and in my power to co regulate. This is what the world needs now! ~

Maxine G, Crabbes Creek, NSW Australia

  • “I had read about Breathwork in many Sunday supplements, and how it could ease the feeling of being overwhelmed in menopause. Rather than blindly reacting, it was time to respond to the challenges I was facing and give this a go. I prepared my comfy nest and connected to the other side of the World from London where Amanda Jane lead me and other women softly into our journeys. It wasn’t long before I had found my rhythm, mesmerising music danced in an out of my conscience, whilst Amanda Jane’s guidance was beautifully paced. Wow! My body was paying attention with a sensation of calm and connection. The inner peace and wellbeing my body felt measured how wonderful this session was and a sense of personal transformation. I can see now why this practice is praised as a tool to relieve mental, physical, and emotional tension. So much so that I want to do this again! ”

    ~ Carol M, London, UK

  • “Amanda created such a safe and welcoming environment. It was beautiful and I could see she had put a lot of thought into getting the room just right. Her energy was so safe and nurturing. I have been a smoker for many years and since the session with Amanda I have had 1 cigarette (normally 10-15+ a day) I felt she was able to help me make a major breakthrough. I felt safe and I feel she has an incredible gift as a healer.”
